What Is Baby Sleep Consulting?

After our doula services have supported families through the early stages of parenthood with issues surrounding feeding, newborn care and adjusting to life as a mother, the next stage of our service supports families facing sleep issues with their baby. As a baby sleep coach, I provide educational and emotional support specific to each family’s situation. No single approach works with all babies all of the time. My philosophy is to empower the parents and guide them in a non-judgemental way toward resolving their baby's sleep issues.

One of the areas of biggest concern for new parents is when, how and where their baby will sleep. Should families co-sleep, have baby in the same room or put baby in a separate room? When can you expect a baby to begin taking regular naps and sleeping through the night? Is all sleep equal regardless of where it takes place? Is crying it out the way to go when trying to get baby to sleep through the night? Is it preferable to nurse an older baby to sleep every night? These are some of the questions I can help parents explore in the process of developing healthy sleep habits in their babies.

"Pam gave us a professional perspective and more importantly an option that didn't seem cold while helping us move towards getting our baby to become an independent sleeper. She also gave me the support and the encouragement I needed to make the move. After Pam left, I did not feel alone. In fact, I felt more confident, hopeful and that I had educated expertise to rely on to lead me through this difficult time."

"Pam came to us five weeks into life with our third child, who hadn't slept for more than a two-hour stretch since his arrival. None of the comfort measures that had soothed our oldest children seemed to help this little guy, and we were exhausted and bewildered. In the course of a single morning, Pam analyzed our challenges, and armed us with a wealth of new ideas and techniques to try. That very night, we got our first four-hour stretch of peaceful slumber, and things have continued to improve ever since thanks to ongoing consultations with Pam to fine-tune our baby's sleep routines. Pam delivered the wisdom, reassurance, and compassion we needed to get through that challenging time, and brought a new level of joy to life with our new arrival. We are so grateful!!"
